Jurying for Broad Ripple Art Fair, Feb. 8

The Indianapolis Art Center is hosting the jurying of almost 700 artists for its largest fundraiser, Broad Ripple Art Fair, this Wednesday, February 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jurors for the Art Fair include:

Lou Harry

Lou Harry, arts and entertainment editor for the Indianapolis Business Journal, is the author or co-author of more than 25 books including Creative Block, Kid Culture, and The High-Impact Infidelity Diet: a novel. He has written for Art & Antiques, TheatreWeek, Variety and more than 50 other publications on the arts and more. He talks about local arts weekly on WIBC and Fox59.

Bob Reiberg

Bob is a studio potter who has been a full time art fair artist for the last sixteen years. He teaches ceramics at the Indianapolis Art Center where he is currently the department head. He has also served on the Art Center’s board of directors.

 

Mindy Taylor Ross

Ms. Ross has been producing public art projects in Indianapolis for almost a decade. In late-2003 she established Art Strategies LLC, a company that consults with clients on the integration of fine art into the spaces where they live, work and play. Prior to moving to Indianapolis, Ms. Ross was the Director of Eckert Fine Art in Naples, Florida where she represented artists such as the late-Robert Rauschenberg.

 

Kyle Spears

Kyle Spears is a full-time contemporary photographer currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. He exhibits at numerous fine art and craft art shows throughout the United States annually.

Cathy Springer Brown

Cathy Springer Brown is an art lover and collector. She serves on the Advisory Board of the Herron School of Art and Design and recently served on the board of the Indianapolis Art Center.

Key Dates for 2012

  • January 22. Deadline for artists to apply (305 have applied as of Jan. 5, but the bulk of the applications come in closer to deadline)
  • February 8. Open jurying at the Art Center (9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
  • February 15. The Art Center sends out invitations to selected artists
  • February 15-May 15. Artists are confirmed.
  • March 25. Adult tickets on sale online or at the Art Center box office for $5 each. Limited quantity available. Price increases by $1 each week until the Art Fair. The regular price of advance tickets is $12.
  • May 18. Preview Party sponsored by Indianapolis Power & Light
  • May 19-20. Broad Ripple Art Fair sponsored by Fifth Third Bank

The Indianapolis Art Center’s annual Broad Ripple Art Fair presented by Fifth Third Bank brings together more than 25,000 visitors, 220 artists, select food vendors and live entertainment on four stages on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center. All proceeds from the Art Fair directly benefit Art Center programs. This is the 42nd year for the Art Fair.

 

Ticket Prices

Advance Adult Tickets: $12 ($15 at the gate)

Child (ages 3-12) $2

Advance tickets are on sale at the Art Center box office, Fifth Third Bank locations and online at www.IndplsArtCenter.org/BRAF.
