The romantic comedy Funny Valentines opens Feb. 24, 2012, as this year’s dinner theatre production from the University of Indianapolis Department of Theatre.

The play by Dennis R. Andersen involves children’s book illustrator Andy Robbins (Ross Percell, pictured above), who is unhappily divorced and hoping to win back his ex-wife and former writing partner, Ellen (Arianne Villareal, pictured above). She arrives for a visit visibly pregnant, however, while he is being pursued by another woman (Alexis Damron) offering a lucrative television deal. Rounding out the student cast are William Schnabel as the Robbins’ agent and Caitlyn Spire as Ellen’s mother.

Performances are scheduled Feb. 24-26 and March 2-3 in UIndy’s Schwitzer Student Center dining room, with dinner at 6:45 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m. The menu includes freshly carved ham, chicken Kiev, tilapia and stuffed shells, with a selection of vegetables, salads, desserts and beverages.

Admission, which includes the meal, is $22 for the general public and $20 for groups, seniors, students and UIndy alumni. Reservations are required. The production includes mildly adult themes. For reservations and more information, contact the box office at 317-788-3251.
