Amber O’Haver was recently crowned Ms. Wheelchair Indiana at the Indiana Historical Society, where she also received a $1,000 cash prize to help support her continued advocacy work. As Ms. Wheelchair Indiana, Amber will have the opportunity to provide public education, advocating for people with disabilities through local news interviews and school, church and civic appearances.
This opportunity is well aligned with her current employment at accessABILITY where she works as an Independent Living Advocate, promoting independence and full access of community life for people with all types of disabilities. Ms. O’Haver’s reign will continue through the Ms. Wheelchair America pageant to be held in Providence, RI, August 6-12, 2013, where she will represent Indiana as the state’s contestant.
accessABILITY commends Amber as an exemplary advocate and as a role model for girls and women everywhere. To learn more about Amber, or the services accessABILITY provides, visit our Web site at http://abilityindiana.org/.
