SUPERHERO: the story of a man called Jesus is truly one of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre’s masterpieces and signature works.  This critically acclaimed, full-length modern ballet follows the last week of the life of Jesus as told through the perspective of Jesus and the women surrounding him, and his complicated relationships with Judas Iscariot.  Set in “anytime” and “everyplace”, this beautiful work portrays both large and small events in Jesus’ last days, both of which are ultimately significant.  SUPERHERO is a “whirl of energy…through color, light, movement, and sound” and is a timeless retelling of a story about a man who changed history.

Artistic Director Gregory Hancock uses his world-class dancers, his award-winning choreography, vibrant costumes and contemporary music to create a stunning work of emotion.  The set design of Gregory Hancock utilizes texts from the Gospels written in Greek, Latin, Aramic and English that submerges the audience into the story.

SUPERHERO features GHDT dancers Martin Casanova as Jesus, Heather Helene King as Mother Mary, Melanie Eakman as Mary Magdalene and guest artist Liang Fu as Judas.

Back by popular audience demand, SUPERHERO is truly a “must-see” performance.  Experience the passion of this story captured beautifully through the performances of the dancers of GHDT.  SUPERHERO gives flight to the soul.

Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre is the resident professional dance company at The Tarkington at The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana.
