What:                   It is the mission of the Asante Children’s Theatre to develop life skills in youth using the performing arts of acting, singing, dancing and storytelling. The Asante Children’s Theatre has united the skills and talents of adult mentors (over 21) with our Prep4Life (youth age 6 to 11) and Academy (youth age 12 to 21) members to assemble a multi-generational cast.  LEGEND: Asante Children’s Theatre Pays Tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON will celebrate Michael Jackson’s legacy through spoken word, song and dance.

The power of art is not limited by age. Both young and not-so-young can be creative and inspirational. Michael Jackson understood this as an artist and had a profound effect on his community at a very young age. The young artists in the cast of LEGEND agree that Michael Jackson was truly an inspiration.

The Asante Children’s Theatre intends to accomplish four distinct goals with LEGEND: (1) to encourage creativity in all its various art forms; (2) to emphasize the importance of self-expression and self-determination; (3) to promote unity through artistic expression and the sharing of art with the world and (4) to awaken the ability to focus and move forward.

We hope to entertain our audiences with a mixture of songs the public would easily recognize that span the artist’s amazing career, choosing songs that the ensemble enjoyed and felt pride in doing. We believe this production will celebrate the legacy of Michael Jackson, and lift the spirits of all who witness it.
