Celebrate the greatest two minutes of sports with an outdoor party at Verestau Historic Site in Aurora. Guests will enjoy the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby with traditional refreshments including mint juleps, Dixieland music, fancy carriages, a ladies’ hat contest, and of course a viewing of the Run for the Roses at 6 p.m.

Derby at Veraestau benefits Indiana Landmarks’ preservation work in southeastern Indiana and tree conservation at the historic estate, including the 210-year-old Holman Oak and the 72 pin oaks planted in the 1930s that line the long, curving drive to the house.

Owned and operated by Indiana Landmarks, Veraestau is a 116-acre estate on the Ohio River that predated Indiana statehood, with additions to the house and grounds from several periods in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The Aurora estate is open for tours on weekends, April through November.
