This July 3, honor those who have chosen the path to American Citizenship at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, 1230 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bear witness as new Americans receive their citizenship at the court ceremony, presided over by United States Federal Judge Sarah Evans Barker. The service begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, and is free and open to the public.  Tours of the President’s mansion are offered free of charge to new citizens and their family members from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. following the ceremony.

In 1890, under the leadership of President Harrison, the federal government took control of immigration through the Treasury Department. Harrison’s Secretary of the Treasury, William Windom announced construction of a new immigrant receiving station would begin on one of the federally owned islands in New York harbor, Ellis Island. While in operation, Ellis Island saw the arrival of over 12 million immigrants pursuing the American dream.

What better way to celebrate the arrival of new American citizens than to welcome them from President Harrison’s mansion? For more details about the ceremony click here or call 317-631-1888.
