Carmel Symphony Orchestra at Mallow Run Winery, July 7
By Sarah Smith
Mallow Run Winery
Mallow Run Winery in Bargersville, Indiana, will host the Carmel Symphony Orchestra in an outdoor concert to benefit Operation Happy Note, a volunteer effort to send musical instruments to deployed men and women throughout the world. This annual concert is held on the winery grounds, and is scheduled for Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm.
The concert is sponsored by Johnson County Farm Bureau, Heartland Community Bank, Franciscan St. Francis Health and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance.
This is the fifth year for the outdoor concert at the winery. Winery co-owners, Bill and Laura Richardson met in, and still play in, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. Over 1000 people attend this annual concert that includes marches and classical works that highlight the American experience. This year’s performance will feature a riveting solo sax performance by Bob Burns, a United States Army veteran and faculty member of the award-winning music department at Avon High School.
The Carmel Symphony Orchestra (CSO) was founded in 1976 as a volunteer community orchestra, and is now the resident orchestra in the new Carmel Palladium in Hamilton County. The CSO is a “family-friendly” orchestra (families with young children are encouraged to attend), and presents a Family Fun children’s concert each year in addition to its numerous Palladium performances.
Concertgoers will be treated to an evening of music, local food vendors, soft drinks and the award-winning wines of Mallow Run Winery. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a relaxing evening on the lawn and listen to a variety of symphonic music.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the show. Tickets may be purchased online by visiting www.mallowrun.com. Tickets are also available by cash or check at all Heartland Community Bank branch locations in Johnson County. For more information, call 317-422-1556.
