Second Thursdays on Georgia Street with Exact Target is a free event that takes place the second Thursday of each month through November (today, Sept. 13, plus Oct. 11 and Nov. 8). Sept. 13 is the second event of the series and will feature fall arts performances, new outdoor cafes and a live band.

As Downtown Indianapolis’ newest and coolest gathering place, Georgia Street is making great progress. With targeted repairs completed, Georgia Street looks brand new with fresh pavers, Roman shades, moveable tables and chairs and a pristine, refinished boardwalk.

Employees, residents and visitors are encouraged to come down on lunch hour for people watching, take an afternoon break from the work day or start the weekend early.  New outdoor cafes including Harry & Izzy’s, Tilted Kilt and Howl at the Moon join The Pub Indianapolis, The Old Spaghetti Factory and Kilroy’s Bar and Grill for prime seating.

Georgia Street activities will take place from 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Sept. 13.  Attendees can:

  • Enjoy performances by Jazz Fest, Indy Fringe and Phoenix Theater throughout the day.
  • Dance to the Meatball Band starting at 5:30 p.m.
  • Grab a beer from the mobile Bud Bar.
  • Shoot hoops with the Pacers and Fever and meet the Pacemates from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 4 – 8 p.m.
  • Get autographs from Colts cheerleaders from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Try a Zumba class from 3 – 4 p.m.
  • Play cornhole.
  • Make Georgia Street the first stop before the Rush Concert at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

“Second Thursdays on Georgia Street turnout in August was good.  We expect more visitors to attend Sept. 13 and enjoy the performances, band, new cafes and activities,” said Melissa Thompson, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc.’s Georgia Street manager.

Indianapolis-headquartered ExactTarget has partnered with IDI as the premier sponsor of the events. Employees are encouraged to participate in the activities, perform on stage and will assist IDI to attract talent to perform at the events. The company will also have representatives onsite to speak with attendees who are interested in careers at ExactTarget.

Event organizers have been touring Georgia Street and booking the space for dedicated functions. These include Emmis’ Bud Light Tailgate gatherings for all Colts home games. Similar functions, both public and private, are being booked and are in the planning phases.

Georgia Street information can be found on  Choose from Visit, Do Business or Host an Event. Web visitors will find a business directory, Georgia Street events listing, history, art installations, property improvement grant application, event application and more.
