A mysterious evening is in store at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, Indiana’s only Smithsonian affiliate, during its first-ever Ghost Walk.

On Halloween night, Oct. 31, 2012, guests will walk along dark and spooky paths across Conner Prairie grounds, lit only by the moonlight and lanterns. Old and vacant buildings will loom around them, tree branches will shiver overhead and eerie stories will give guests goose bumps.

During the event, Conner Prairie’s costumed interpreters will share their own ghost experiences, tell tales of local folklore and legends, including the paranormal story of Heady Hollow, and describe the history of the grounds and their long-gone residents. Stories about grave robbings, the cholera epidemic and prohibition will leave people puzzled and curious.

The tour will include stops outside several Conner Prairie buildings, as well as a visit inside the Chinese House, which is hidden in the woods and typically closed to the public. Visitors will have a chance to explore the building, once owned by Eli Lilly, and learn about its name and history.

Ghost Walk tours will start every half hour between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., and last approximately 90 minutes. The event is outdoors and guests should dress appropriately for the weather and walking, as it will go on rain or shine. The event is for ages 12 and older. Tickets are $13 for Conner Prairie members and $15 for non-members. Reservations are required and can be made online or by calling 317-776-6006.
