Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure, opened last Saturday at the Eiteljorg Museum in White River State Park, 500 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, and continues through the holiday season until Jan. 6, 2013.

You can enter a locomotive wonderland, a network of trestles, bridges and tunnels with chugging trains and detailed replicas of national treasures, all made of natural materials like twigs, moss and nuts and wrapped up in holiday trimming. Jingle Rails is a journey to the Great American West – the real West and the West of the imagination. It inspires in guests a desire to know more about the natural and social history of the West, to travel to experience America’s Western treasures, and to learn about the significance of the railroad  in American Western history.

Watch seven trains wind past the local treasures of downtown Indianapolis, including the Eiteljorg Museum, Monument Circle and Union Station and Lucas Oil Stadium, where guests will hear veteran Colts radio announcer Bob Lamey call a game. The trains then head through the national parks of the American West, passing legendary sites, including grand railway lodges, Northwest Coast Native villages, and wonders both natural and human-made—Mt. Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite Falls, Old Faithful and more.

The unique part of Jingle Rails is that every canyon and mesa, every lodge and geyser—even the replica of Indianapolis’ own Soldiers and Sailors Monument by Paul Busse and his company Applied Imagination. Busse’s inventive holiday creations are rare and only seen in cities like New York, Chicago, Washington, DC—and now Indianapolis.
