Mallow Run Winery, in a partnership with the Greater Greenwood Arts Council (GGAC), has released the first wine in a series called “Impression,” which serves to support the arts and highlight up-and-coming Indiana artists. A portion of the proceeds from this limited-release wine will be donated to the Arts Council to promote local arts and art awareness in the Greater Greenwood community.

In addition, the label of the wine includes artwork chosen by board members of the council from the dozens of pieces that were submitted in response to a call for entries earlier in the year. This first label features an original watercolor of Indiana coneflowers painted by Patty Coulter of Greenwood. Patty is a member of the Southside Art League, Inc. and the Watercolor Society of Indiana, groups that will in turn be supported by proceeds donated to the GGAC.

The GGAC works to advance and promote the visual, performing, and literary arts in the Greater Greenwood community through education, leadership, advocacy, and collaboration with local artists and art organizations. Funded by donations, memberships and efforts like the Impression Wine project, the Arts Council is able to provide the community with opportunities to experience the arts. Examples can be seen in the large, abstract structures that line the Polk Hill Trail in Greenwood, admired by runners and walkers throughout the year. Or in the hip, vibrant sounds of Time for Three, in a concert at the Community Church of Greenwood next February, presented by the GGAC. As one board member stated, “We exist not to do art, but to cause it.”

And Impression Wine by Mallow Run supports that cause.

This first wine in the Impression series is a Pinot Grigio, a dry white wine with flavors of peach, pear and grapefruit that pairs wonderfully with fish or spicy chicken dishes. Wine and arts enthusiasts alike are encouraged to make the trip to Mallow Run Winery, 6964 W. Whiteland Rd, Bargersville (25 minutes south of downtown Indianapolis) for a free sampling of this new release, along with over twenty other wines offered on the extensive wine list.
