Meet local basketball legends Tom and Dick Van Arsdale at a reception celebrating the opening of the exhibit “Hometown Heroes: Tom and Dick Van Arsdale” on Friday January 25, 2013, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Johnson County Museum in Franklin. The twin brothers shared top honors statewide in high school basketball in 1961 before becoming star players at Indiana University. Both brothers went on to enjoy successful NBA careers for over a decade, from the mid-1960s through the 1970s.
The exhibit was created by the Greenwood Library, and includes memories and photos from their lives of the Van Arsdale brothers, both on and off the court. Refreshments will be served at the reception. “Hometown Heroes: Tom and Dick Van Arsdale” will be part of the Johnson County Museum’s permanent collection, and can be seen free of charge during the museum’s regular hours.
The Johnson County Museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 4pm, and Saturdays 10am to 3pm. For more information, please call 317-346-4500 or visit JohnsonCountyMuseum.org.
