Old Fashion Independence Celebration

Visit Spring Mill State Park in Mitchell for an Old Fashion Independence Celebration! Each day will offer opportunities for making crafts such as a yarn doll, bracelet or bag with July 4th, 6th & 7th offering all day activities some of which include a lake hike, Village tour and presentation on mourning customs of the 1860’s. Summer just wouldn’t be summer without an outing to the 4-H Fair at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds. Join us for a week’s worth of great fair food, concerts, tractor & truck pulls, queen contest, thrilling midway rides and more! $5 parking fee. Gate fee begins at 4pm. Weekly passes are just $15. Visit the Grissom Museum in Spring Mill State Park and participate in special programs to celebrate the second American in space. One of the capsules Grissom piloted and his actual space suit are on display in the museum along with interactive exhibits and artifacts from his life and career.
