Underneath Indiana’s soil lies a hidden graveyard of ice age giants. Entombed for thousands of years, the remains of these ancient elephants continues to be uncovered by Hoosiers across the state.
The Indiana State Museum has been hard at work discovering, digging, and preserving the remains of mammoths, mastodons, and other Ice Age animals. You will be amazed by these magnificent creatures!
The opening of our new exhibition, Ice Age Giants: The Mystery of Mammoths and Mastodons, is set for Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013. The exhibit runs through Aug. 17, 2014, and will be open during regular museum hours.
