Open for families

As many begin summer vacation, Downtown’s best attractions have two of their biggest exhibits open for all to enjoy. The new Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center at the Indianapolis Zoo opens this Saturday and is home to eight dynamic orangutans. Guests of all ages are sure to love interacting face-to-face with the orangutans! The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis showcases Terra Cotta Warriors throughout the summer – the only chance to see the warriors in the U.S. in 2014. While visiting the Children’s Museum, don’t miss Take Me There: China – one of the largest exhibits about contemporary China ever produced in the U.S.

Downtown is dog-friendly!

Now that the polar vortex has long passed us, and sidewalk cafes are open across Downtown, we shouldn’t forget about our furry friends. Several Mass Ave businesses are dog-friendly: Art Bank, Arts A Poppin’, Boomerang BTQ, Indy Reads Books, The Frame Shop and Franklin Barry Gallery, Silver in the City and of course, CityDogs and Three Dog Bakery. Downtown residents and visitors can even dine with their dogs at select restaurant patios: Chatham Tap and Starbucks.
