Instead of flying 18 hours to travel to Asia, Central Indiana residents can experience the many dimensions of Asia in their own backyard at the 7th annual Asian Fest.  This family-friendly festival takes place on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Indiana State Museum/White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis, 650 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Admission is free.

Festival goers can enjoy traditional Asian dance performances of India, Philippines, China & Pacific Islands, dazzling costumes, Asian cuisine from local restaurants, Asian-themed games and activities and much more.  Each year, the festival showcases one Asian county, and this year, the spotlight is on China and the Chinese culture.  Local Chinese communities will present special entertainment and activities, including a concert of traditional Chinese musical instruments; Kung Fu demonstration;  presentation on Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art and science of balancing the energy in space to bring health and good fortune, just to name a few.

Asian American Alliance, Inc. (AAAI), a non-profit, Pan-Asian organization is hosting this event.  During the festival, AAAI will award scholarships to deserving high school students from the metro area who have demonstrated exceptional leadership.

The 2014 Asian Fest is made possible by these generous sponsors:  McDonald’s, Kroger, Crowe Horwath, The International Center, PNC, Telamon, WellPoint, Indiana State Museum, White River State Park, NUVO, Real Scene TV, Coca Cola, and Bolo/Row Printing.
