A play of thrilling suspense, morbid mayhem and potential murder comes to the Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) in the form of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “Hound of the Baskervilles,” adapted by David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright and directed by Peter Amster. Join Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as they undertake family secrets, haunted hounds, romance and mystery in this timeless tale of supernatural suspense, Feb. 18 to Mar. 15, 2015.

This sweeping story follows Baker Street’s fabled detective duo, whose obsession with the supernatural has them scouring the treacherous fog-filled Devonshire Moors for the phantom hound that haunts the Baskerville estate’s newest incumbent, Sir Henry.

This literary classic has been adapted into a contemporary humor-filled whodunit that introduces audiences to a variety of characters including a self-confessed “dabbler in science,” an amateur astronomer, a Darwinian butterfly-collector and a few strange behaving servants that will keep theatre-goers guessing until the very end.

Audiences are as attracted to the mystery and suspense of Sherlock Holmes as much now as they’ve ever been. The resurgence of this type of thriller is powerfully cast with a young, handsome and sophisticated team and surprises abound.

The set for The Hound of The Baskervilles features some of the largest moveable scenery the IRT has ever brought to the OneAmerica stage. This complete sensory experience includes a fight scene, dual background projection scenery, trap doors, quick sand and more.

And as a way of saying thanks to our local ‘detectives,’ the IRT welcomes all police, fire and first responders to a $10 discount for the entire run of The Hound of the Baskervilles in appreciation of their service to our community. This special offer can be redeemed online or by calling the ticket office at 317-635-5252.

The Hound of the Baskervilles begins Feb. 18 and runs through March 15. Total run time is approximately two hours and 40 minutes and includes two intermissions. This play features thematic music, thrilling scenes and brief strong language. It is recommended for audiences 12 years and older.
