The Brebeuf student-led activist group, Never Again BJPS, is organizing a student walk-out on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, as part of the national protest against gun violence in schools and in support the victims of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The walkout will begin at 10 a.m. and last exactly 17 minutes – one minute for each of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018.

A message from the organizers:

Our student-led group is well-versed in the current debate surrounding gun control and violence in schools.

WE INVITE THE MEDIA AND THE PUBLIC TO ATTEND Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School’s walk-out held on March 14 to get a close-up look at how the Brebeuf community is uniting in this effort.

We will march in unison with students from countless schools around the country, all of whom will simultaneously walk out at 10 a.m. in every time zone. We are encouraging teachers, students, administrators, parents and allies to walk out for 17 minutes — one minute for every person killed in the tragic shooting, exactly one month after the shooting in Parkland.

Our goal is to show the Indianapolis community that regardless of political affiliation, special interests, race or background, we all can unite in support of student safety, calling for a re-evaluation of gun policy and restrictions.

We believe that, especially in this political climate, everyone will benefit from seeing that the issue of gun violence in America is one that the youth of our nation will not stand for.

EDITOR’S NOTE:, LLC congratulates and highly commends Never Again BJPS for its leadership in this matter in the hopes that their actions will lead to positive change in our country.
