You wanted more flowers, and we listened! This year’s Flower + Patio Show is bursting with beautiful buds, more colorful and extravagant than ever. After a blooming welcome from show entrances designed by McNamara Florist, you’ll experience Showcase Gardens that will wow as you walk down the aisles. Be sure to visit both West Pavilion and Expo Hall for a variety of sprouting succulents and pleasing perennials.

One of the most popular features at the Flower + Patio Show is the Plant Market! Attendees can get a first peek at the sights and scents of the first buds of spring. Take home herbs, seeds, terrariums, cacti and hardy spring annuals. Plus, get fresh flowers, plants and supplies throughout the 4,500 square feet of the Plant Market, located at the entrance of Expo Hall.

Host of DIY Networks’ “Lawn and Order,” “Yard Crashers” and appearing with wife Peyton on HGTV’s “Going Yard,” Chris Lambton is an expert in landscaping, hardscaping, garden planning, lawn care and maintenance for all areas of your outdoor living space. Chris appears at the Flower + Patio Show Friday, March 15 through Sunday, March 17, offering attendees landscaping tips and gardening know-how.

Landscape designer Sara Bendrick comes to the rescue of people who love their homes but hate their yards on DIY Network’s “I Hate My Yard.” She works with homeowners to create the outdoor living spaces they’ve always dreamed of! Sara will help Flower + Patio Show attendees realize the opportunity of their exterior spaces when she appears on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10.

You pick it — and take it home with you! Show visitors get to pick their very own fresh-cut gorgeous bouquets and then take home the scents, colors and textures of the season. Select your blooms, and a designer from the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) puts together an arrangement just for you!

Want the chance to win a Weber Grill valued at more than $300? All you need to do is find one of four iPads set up at the Flower + Patio Show and cast your vote for “Best Garden,” “Best Use of Color” and “People’s Choice.” Just by casting your vote, you might be the winner of the grand prize, a Weber Grill presented by Ace Hardware!
On Monday, March 11, the Fairgrounds will host a food drive at the Flower + Patio Show to benefit Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana! Donate a canned good and receive a voucher for $4 off the price of adult admission at the box office.

“A Doll’s House, Part 2” at Indiana Repertory Theatre Opens Mar. 12, 2019 @irtlive

Indianapolis, Ind.—This spring, the Indiana Repertory Theatre will produce the Indiana premiere of one of the most produced shows across the country, Lucas Hnath’s A Doll’s House, Part 2. Straight from Broadway, this scaldingly funny and deadly serious exploration of divorce, family and lost love will be directed by IRT’s playwright-in-residence James Still and run March 12 to April 7, 2019 on the OneAmerica Mainstage.

The inspiration for playwright Lucas Hnath’s work is Henrik Ibsen’s 1879 A Doll’s House, a revered, controversial and groundbreaking play focused on feminism, marriage, and societal expectations—themes which continue in Part 2 and are still relevant today, 140 years after the original was written.

“The reason A Doll’s House, Part 2 is one of the most produced shows this year and in the coming years is because of what it has to say about gender, human rights, about families, about expectations of marriage, about freedom or lack thereof,” IRT’s Executive Artistic Director Janet Allen said. “Those are the things that make the story so important both today and in 1870s with Ibsen’s original work.”

Ibsen’s version ends with the “slam heard around the world” as the main character Nora leaves behind her domestic life in pursuit of identity and independence, and A Doll’s House, Part 2 starts with a knock at that same door 15 years later. What happens throughout the play is a fierce and funny five-round boxing match as the characters explore and engage their feelings and each other during an unexpected reunion.

“The fuel of this play is engagement against all odds. These characters are using whatever works to figure out what’s next for them, and they do it without self-reverence, with humor and modern-day vernaculars,” Director James Still said. “Hnath doesn’t shy away from the thorny connection between choices and consequences, but somehow he manages to tinge his play with infectious glee.”

An expertly crafted production that does not require its original to exist wholly on its own, A Doll’s House, Part 2 weaves together humor, modern language, conflict, and social issues for a theatrical experience that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) invites families to celebrate Indiana’s circus tradition with its 18th annual Circus Day, a free event featuring carnival activities, live performances and access to the award-winning Indiana Experience. Circus Day takes place Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.

Circus Day gives families the chance to show off their carnival game skills and win great prizes. Guests will laugh with comedian and juggler Krembo K, be amazed by a contortionist, and meet and learn about rescued animals with Silly Safaris. New this year, visitors can enjoy a 1937 film from IHS’s collections featuring Indiana’s own Cole Brothers Circus.

Guests are also invited to take full advantage of free admission and visit the Indiana Experience, which will include IHS’s newest offering, You Are There 1939: Exploring Angel Mounds, opening March 9. The exhibit will take guests back in time to the archaeological dig in Southern Indiana where workers uncovered a once-thriving Mississippian town.

Circus Day visitors can purchase tickets for carnival games and activities, such as face painting and balloon sculptures. Tickets can also be used for refreshments, such as cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones. In honor of Circus Day, the History Center’s Stardust Terrace Café, operated by Hoaglin Catering, will offer kid-friendly meal options.
