26th annual Art & Soul celebration returns this February, showcasing Black art and music in Indianapolis

Popular annual festival will focus on Black Health & Wellness, returning live to the Indianapolis Artsgarden after going virtual in 2021

WHAT: Art & Soul, the Arts Council’s largest public program that has kicked off Black History Month in Indianapolis since 1996 and helped expand the city’s awareness and appreciation of African-American art and music, returns live to the Indianapolis Artsgarden in February 2022 celebrating the theme of Black Health & Wellness. Art & Soul, which was virtual in 2021, annually attracts more than 2,000 visitors and is supported by Lilly Endowment Inc.

FESTIVAL DATES & HIGHLIGHTS: Each Saturday in February will highlight a different genre, and take place from noon to 2 p.m. at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Art & Soul will feature nearly 20 music, dance, theater, and spoken-word performances by Black artists, special programming, and a visual art exhibition. The Arts Council partnered with Asante Art Institute, FLAVA FRESH!, Iibada Dance Company, and Indy Jazz Fest to develop this year’s program. The four 2022 Featured Artists will be announced in January.
