The world’s largest collection of model train exhibits, products and accessories pulls into downtown Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center (100 S. Capitol Ave.) on Friday, July 8 through Sunday, July 10, 2016.

Held in a different North American city each year, the 2016 Annual National Train Show will showcase all aspects of model railroading including the industry’s newest and most unique products and services from manufacturers and retailers across the U.S. and around the world.

Special Highlights and Features
Covering 180,000 sq. ft. of space, including 44,000 sq. ft. featuring extraordinary operating model train displays, the 2016 Annual National Train Show special features include:

• The Incredible Lego® MiniLand – A 2,500 sq. ft. area is dedicated to the creation of a dynamic, originally-designed display featuring operating model railroads, hundreds of train cars, various landscape settings and waterfalls, scale buildings, retractable bridges and more, all made entirely out of millions of Lego® pieces. Attendees will have the chance to “meet the modelers” and learn how to build their very own original display.

• Ask The Collectibles Appraiser – Have an old train set hidden away in the closet and wondering what it’s worth? Bring it to the show and find out from The Collectibles Expert. Free to all attendees.

• Children’s Play Area – 1,500 sq. ft. of fun including trains, games and more for children of all ages to enjoy during the show. The area is chaperoned at all times and is free of charge.

• Hands-On Demonstrations – Learn how to get started on your own model railroad empire and find out the latest techniques from well-known exhibitors and from pros at the Meet the Master Modeler booth.

There are no advance ticket sales. Show tickets will be on sale ½ hour before the show opens each day at the Indiana Convention Center’s box office located in the Georgia Street lobby, on the Capitol Street side of the facility. The box office will close each day one hour before the show closes.

On May 26, 2015, Indiana Black Expo announced that former Indianapolis Colt Reggie Wayne will receive the Key to the City of Indianapolis from Mayor Greg Ballard during the Pacers Sports & Entertainment Corporate Luncheon presented by Indiana University.

The luncheon will take place on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 11 AM in Halls D and E of the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol Avenue, as part of the 45th Annual Summer Celebration.

“Reggie has given back to our community on and off the field, and I am thrilled to present him with the key to the city,” said Mayor Ballard. “From being a fan favorite throughout his years wearing the Colts jersey, to lending his time and energy to benefit countless good causes in Indianapolis, Reggie has been a role model to many.”

“We are excited about honoring Reggie Wayne and declaring the last weekend of Summer Celebration ‘Reggie Wayne Weekend,'” said Tanya Bell, IBE president & Chief Executive Officer. “Besides his greatness as one of the best NFL wide receivers and the stellar example he set for the Colts franchise, Reggie has done so much for our community and we want to make sure that the state of Indiana is provided with an opportunity to thank him for his contributions,” added Bell. “Reggie has always supported the mission of Indiana Black Expo and has invested significantly in our youth. IBE will be forever indebted to #87,” added Bell.

Wayne played college football for the University of Miami and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round (30th overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft. He is a six-time Pro Bowl selection, and was a member of the Colts’ Super Bowl XLI championship team. He is currently sixth all-time in NFL receiving yards (leading all active players in both categories) and tied for 22nd all-time in career touchdown receptions.

The Corporate Luncheon is the largest luncheon in the state of Indiana with nearly 3,000 guests. Tickets of $60 each and tables for $600 are available at the IBE Box Office located at 3145 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

IBE will honor Reggie Wayne throughout Summer Celebration weekend. The full schedule of events will be published for the community.

A “Thank You Reggie” exhibit will be featured during the Cultural Arts Pavilion from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19. The community will also have an opportunity to sign a display and see Reggie Wayne during the Annual Amp Harris & Reggie Wayne Saving Our Youth Celebrity Basketball game on Saturday, July 18 at 6:00 PM in Hall J of the Indiana Convention Center.

NCAA Final Four Fan Fest Tickets Now Available

Tickets to the NCAA® Final Four® Fan Fest presented by Capital One are now available to the general public. Fans who purchase tickets this week will be rewarded with a 50 percent off discount. Regularly-priced tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-11, current college students with valid ID, senior citizens ages 55+ and military personnel. Ages 2 and under are free. Fans can purchase tickets at NCAA.com/FinalFour.

The event is open Friday, April 3 from Noon to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 5 from Noon to 8 p.m., and Monday, April 6 from Noon to 8 p.m. Final Four Fan Fest is scheduled for the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. Tickets are good for one day of the event.

Fan Fest is the ultimate pregame destination. A budget-friendly, four-day indoor interactive event, Fan Fest targets basketball fans and fans of all NCAA sports by offering them a chance to meet legendary coaches and former college stars at exclusive autograph sessions, sign up for daily youth clinics, and participate in a host of sport activities ranging from basketball to lacrosse to hockey and more. The weekend also boasts a variety of unique entertainment including the annual Final Four Pep Rally featuring the bands and cheerleaders from the four participating NCAA teams.

The 2015 NCAA Men’s Final Four Weekend includes fan events surrounding the national semifinals and championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis. Gen Con, the largest consumer hobby, fantasy, science fiction and adventure game convention in North America, returns to Indianapolis for its 47th annual convention this month. THE BEST FOUR DAYS IN GAMING™ will take place in the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol Avenue, and throughout the city, Aug. 14-17, 2014.

The Exhibit Hall is open from 10 am to 6 pm Thursday through Saturday, and on Sunday, Family Fun Day, from 10 am to 4 pm. 24-hour gaming takes place at the convention center and at area hotels during the four-day event.

Updated Headlines for Gen Con 2014
–      Record Breaking Attendance– Last year, Gen Con had more than 49,000 unique attendees from all 50 states and 32 different countries with a turnstile figure of more than 159,000.
–      Exhibit Hall – 370+ exhibitors spanning five acres of game demos, new products, classic games, and more!
–      14,000+ Events– Including free-to-play games, competitive tournaments, casual gaming, and numerous non-gaming experiences, including seminars, workshops, and crafting events.
–      Charitable Partner– All charity events at Gen Con will donate proceeds to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana’s BackSacks: Weekend Food for Kids.

–      2014 Art Show and Guest of Honor – Acclaimed fantasy illustrator Terese Neilsen has been selected as 2014 Gen Con Artist Guest of Honor. Most known for her illustrations for Marvel and Dark Horse comics and for illustrating Magic: the Gathering cards, Neilsen is currently publishing her first book, The Art of Terese Neilsen.

Live on Georgia Street-
Just outside the convention center, Georgia Street will host a number of free, open to the public, outdoor activities.
Official Beer Tapping– Wednesday pre-show concert begins at 5 pm when Indianapolis-based brewer Sun King Brewing will host a tapping party to unveil Gen Con’s official beer of 2014, The Froth of Khan, a coffee-infused ale. Tapping begins at 6 pm.
Bands– Star Trek-themed band, Five Year Mission and acclaimed independent songwriter Sarah Donner will perform at the Sun King Brewing tapping party
Food Trucks– Throughout Gen Con weekend, more than 40 of Indianapolis’ best food trucks will be stationed along Georgia Street.

Family Fun at Gen Con 2014
–      Family Fun Pavilion– This is an area dedicated to family gaming for all ages. It includes exhibits, demonstrations, activities and much more!
–      Training Grounds– is the place to introduce kids to the gaming world and all its possibilities. Training Grounds is most appropriate for kids ages 4-12 and is located in the Family Fun Pavilion.

  • Chess Champion vs Youth- Women’s Grandmaster and 2-time USA Chess Champion Jennifer Shahade will be playing 50 simultaneous games of chess against children 12 and under at 10 am.
