Butler University vocal group Jordan Jazz, Britain’s Swingle Singers, and 100 of the top singers from high school choirs across Indiana will share the Clowes Memorial Hall stage at 7 p.m. Nov. 16, 2013, for Vocal Jazz Fest ’13, an evening of Bach, Beatles, and beyond.

Tickets are $10 for festival participants, $13 for groups of 10 or more, $15 for the Butler community, and $20 for the public. They’re available at the box office, 317-940-6444.

The concert will feature Bach’s “Fugue in C Minor”; the Beatles’ “When I’m 64,” “Lady Madonna,” and “Let It Be”; Gershwin’s “Fascinating Rhythm” and “Falling in Love with Love,” and more.

Students from 11 high schools—New Castle, Elkhart Memorial, Beech Grove, Columbus North, Ben Davis, Culver Community, Milan, South Spencer, Monroe Central Jr.-Sr., Western, and North Central—will be at Butler for three days of rehearsal and performance.

“Butler University is proud to host Vocal Jazz Fest,” said Tim Brimmer, professor of music and director of Jordan Jazz. “Each year for the last 13 years, Butler’s vocal jazz students have been rehearsing and performing with the greatest choir directors and their top students, and alongside the greatest vocal jazz artists the world has to offer, for appreciative audiences. What’s not to love about that?”

Jordan Jazz promotes vocal jazz awareness, education, and entertainment through local, national and global outreach activities. Membership in Jordan Jazz is open to all Butler students by audition.

For almost half a century, the Swingle Singers have pushed the boundaries of what the human voice can achieve. Their vocal agility and blend, combined with captivating showmanship, have thrilled generations of audiences around the globe. Five decades after their 1963 pioneering, Grammy-winning debut album, Jazz Sébastien Bach, today’s Swingle Singers are an international a cappella phenomenon. These seven young and versatile voices deliver folk ballads, funk jams, and fugues with equal precision and passion.

Clowes Memorial Hall is located on the campus of Butler University at 4602 Sunset Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana. For more information, visit http://cloweshall.org/, or call 317-940-6444.
